I kinda had to fudge my numbers today because I was so dehydrated. I drank a little too much last night. I came in just under 136, so I gulped a little water to take me to exactly 136. I could have drunk a lot more, but I didn't want to be over my goal.

It was a busy weekend with no rest. Friday Brad and I got in a short walk (1 hour 15 minutes), and then we took Xena, the fish, and another load of stuff over to the new apartment. I locked Xena in the bathroom. It has one of those old style tubs on legs and as of this morning she was still hiding under the tub. However, the food has been disturbed, the scratching post slightly used, and the little box used, so she is coming out.

Saturday Doug came over after church and took down my Direct TV satellite dish. Then Brad and I took another load over and walked around the neighborhood a bit. We also went shopping at Safeway for stuff to stock the fridge at the new place, and hit Petco for a collar for Abby (yes, I am trying again), and a new litter scoop and holder.

I had dinner and wine at Quinn's Lighthouse, and champagne, Irish coffee, and most of a cheese plate at New Zealander. I drank too much and have a touch of a hangover this morning.

Today after Brad and I went out for coffee at Starbucks, I trapped Abby in the cage. She is now freaking out that she's locked in the cage again (photo of cage). I then sized the collar to her, but didn't put it on her.

Brad and I took two more loads over to the new apartment including the bed frame, the small bookcase, the folding table, the microwave, and the exercise bike (which I locked up out back).

On the first trip I found the stapler and stapled Abby's collar so that it can't be made larger to where she can slip it off (the sharp points facing out so they can't hurt her). I have never seen such a Houdini cat when it comes to collars. Before we made the second trip I put the collar on her. We'll see how long it stays on. Brad and I can't get the cage in his van so Abby is going tomorrow in the moving truck.

Brad finally dropped me off at work since I do have to work today. Brad is supposed to go back to my old apartment to do more cleaning. However, tomorrow is the move so I am off, and Tuesday I am off as the carpet cleaner is coming. Tomorrow we pick up the U-Haul at 10:30, and two guys from Teen Challenge to help us move at 11:30. There's not a whole lot left - just Abby's in her cage, the bed, and two bookcases.

Wednesday I am staying home in the morning and waiting for Direct TV to come install the satellite dish, then going to work in the afternoon as usual.

Eating-wise I am on plan today. Tomorrow will be a cheat day. I haven't decided about Tuesday yet.

moving messDid the laundry last night and some packing. Slept in today and did more packing. Tomorrow Brad and I will take more stuff to the new apartment and do some unpacking. We will probably just do a short walk so we have more time to move and unpack. We may also take Xena and the fish to the new apartment and lock Xena in the bathroom with food, water, and a litter box. Since Abby has to be moved in the big cage, she can't go until Monday.

I finally got confirmation today from Teen Challenge that they will provide two men to help me move Monday, but we have to pick them up and drop them off. We get them at 11:30 a.m. Teen Challenge is a faith based program to get people off drugs, so the money goes to a good cause. :)

Brad did more cleaning yesterday and says he'll knock off anything remaining on Friday, but we'll see. Doug is supposed to come over after church on Saturday to take down the satellite dish, so there won't be time to do anything else that day.

I'm skipping the gym Sunday morning to do more moving and unpacking. While I have Monday and Tuesday off for the move, I do have to work my regular shift on Sunday.

I cashed in most of the money my employer takes from my paychecks (just $200) so I will be sure to have money to rent the U-Haul and pay Teen Challenge for the moving guys. We'll run by the bank tomorrow to deposit it.

I'll be posting my weigh-in on Sunday and then be gone the two days after. I'll be back on Wednesday with a full update on how things went. Ain't moving fun?

Week 67, Day 4

Calories eaten yesterday: 1395
Fat: 30g (19%)
Carbs: 103g (29%)
Protein: 173g (50%)
Weight this morning: 131.2 (One week ago: 130)
Calories burned in exercise today: 364

Went to the gym and did the spinning class as best as I could. The teacher did not ride with us, I guess because she taught a weight training class right after. She had her cycling shoes with her and said she would lone them to anybody who wore a 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 shoes size. No one took her up so I said I wear a size 8. She gave me her shoes and helped me snap them into the pedals. So that was kind of cool. I didn't do any weight training to speak of. I would much rather do the spinning class than do leg weight training.

After the spinning class I got on a treadmill and just walked for 30 minutes at about 3.5 mph. I covered 1.83 miles. I had my protein and carb snack on my way to work, then walked from the BART station - 1.5 miles in 30 minutes.

Today will probably be my last gym workout until after the move. I will be doing some walking, though, so I will get some exercise.

I bought another canister of Muscle Milk Light for Brad to take to the new apartment (it was still on sale). They also had various Apex bars and cookies on sale, so I stocked up on those. They will be good, easy food to eat leading up to the move and enable me to get all other food out of my house. I'm keeping the cottage cheese, some of it mixed with protein powder, the Apex bars, Friday night's dinner, and that's it. Everything else is going to be packed and taken to the new apartment by Friday afternoon. Some of the Apex bars will go to the new apartment so that we'll have quick, easy food available both places.

Since I will be on plan Sunday, I'll bring Sunday's food to work tomorrow.

It feels strange to be in this in-between limbo with the move - not really living in either apartment. All my pots and pans and most of my food are at the new apartment.

Oh...I got my story posted on 24 Hour Fitness' 12 Million Lives Web site. They are soliciting stories from members so I wrote up mine. It can be seen here.

Week 67, Day 3

Calories eaten yesterday: 1224

Protein: 150g (49%)
Weight this morning: 133 (One week ago: 132.2)

Crap. My weight is up today. For now I'll blame the hot dogs. I had the fat free turkey dogs for lunch, dinner, and snack and they are high in sodium.

Finally got back to the gym. That felt good. I did an hour of upper body work using the 8x8 system Joe told me to try - 8 sets of 8 reps. I had to go pretty light to complete all the sets and reps and got very few exercises done because each one takes so long when you are doing a total of 64 reps of everything.

For cardio I ran on the treadmill. It felt so good to get back to running again. :) I started out at 5.2, but I felt good and strong and topped out at 6.7 mph, though I couldn't maintain it for very long. In the end I did 35 minutes and covered 3.55 miles, so my average was about 6 mph. FitDay says I burned 290 calories from the run alone, but I doubt it was nearly that much.

The gym had Muscle Milk Light on sale, so I bought a canister, plus one each of the 24 Hour hand towel and bath towel.

I had my protein and carb snack and walked to work from BART. I bought some groceries to go to the new house. I want some food there so I have food to eat right when I move in. I had Brad take the Muscle Milk, towels, and groceries to the new apartment.

I had an NSV at the gym today. I was laying down on a bench doing tricep extensions and the guy who calls me "Slimmy" came over. I stopped my exercise and lowered the dumbbells. He said no, to put them back up, so I did. So now I'm laying there with my arms up in the air, holding the dumbbells. Then he said something like, "Girlfriend, look at that. Your tummy is flat. I'm impressed," and lightly patted my tummy. I just smiled and he walked away. That felt really good.

My move is next Monday/Tuesday. I am taking the day off work and will not have Internet access so I won't be posting. I do have to work Sunday and will check in then, and then back again on Wednesday. Hopefully by then my phone will be turned on at the new house so I can hook my modem up.

I'm planning a cheat day on Monday. Tuesday I hope to be totally on plan, but no promises. It's going to be a stressful, long couple of days. I'm stocking up on healthy, easy food at the new house - 100% Whole Wheat Light bread, Special K Protein Plus cereal, low-carb chocolate soy milk, sugar-free peanut butter and Walden Farms jelly, cottage cheese, turkey pepperoni, fat free cheese, and South Beach meal bars. I'll have everything I need to eat healthy, even though my calories will be high.

I didn't have my workout pants (I accidentally took every pair to the new apartment), so I decided to skip the gym and do more packing. I threw a box of miscellaneous stuff together and took a few loads of trash downstairs. Brad found my gray leggings and brought them to me so I can work out tomorrow if I want. I wanted my Danskins but oh well. He couldn't find them.

Lisa was an hour late to relieve me yesterday so she drove me home. She wanted the cat tree, but her car was too small to hold it. I got my tool kit and managed to get off the base and one post. That enabled me to get it in her car, with one post sticking out the window. Here's a photo except mine was blue.

I did some hunting on Craig's list last night and found the listing for my current apartment. I'll remove the link when it no longer works. I copied the listing below:

Yes, it it good to see my goal weight on a Sunday, but I think I was severely dehydrated because it was MEGA hot this weekend, plus I drank a lot of alcohol yesterday. I expect it will rebound next week. I actually weighed myself with a bottle of diet iced tea (and then drank it of course) to try to get a more realistic weight.

It was a long, crazy busy weekend!

Friday Brad came over after work and we stopped at the bank to get the $1125 needed for the new apartment ($725 first month's rent and $400 security deposit). I got money orders because they won't take a check for the first month. We managed only a short walk of one hour - we like to go for two hours - before meeting Gloria to sign the papers for the apartment and fork over the money.

I new after looking at the apartment that both of the cat trees will NOT fit, so I decided to get rid of the blue one.

Gloria said it was okay to bring over some boxes to the new place; I just couldn't live there until the date I stated. So after church Saturday Brad and I took some last little stuff to the Salvation Army, along with the cat tree. We tried two Salvation Army stores and one Goodwill and nobody wanted it. We ended up leaving it by the dumpsters in my apartment building. It's still perfectly good, if a little used.

We then made loaded Brad's van with stuff and took it over to the apartment. Then we went to Applebee's and I had two Mochatinis (I brought my own sugar-free Hershey's syrup to use), a glass of Cabernet wine, and a bunch of Diet Coke. It was very hot and I was dehydrated. Then we made another run of boxes to the new apartment, and went to New Zealander where I had two glasses of sparkling wine, an Irish coffee (with Splenda instead of simple syrup), and a cheese plate.

I skipped the gym this morning so we could make another run two the new apartment. I didn't have breakfast, so I grabbed a South Beach bar out of the fridge at the new place and ate that while Brad carried the boxes in. When I finished eating I put stuff away in the cabinets. Brad also helped me put some boxes away in the closet.

After we did everything we could he drove me to WalMart and I bought some stuff for the new apartment - shower curtains, some food, etc., and a few cleaning supplies to help him clean my old apartment - $111 total. Ouch! Brad dropped me at work and then left to work on cleaning the old apartment. I don't actually move into the new place until next Monday.

So no exercise today at all. I hope to hit the gym tomorrow.

Cholesterol, blood sugar, HbA1C, & thyroid madness

Calories eaten yesterday: 1277
Fat: 27g (19%)
Carbs: 103g (32%)
Protein: 151g (47%)
Weight this morning: 128.2 (One week ago: N/A)
Calories burned in exercise today: 95

Alright! Finally under 130 today, but nowhere near a new low. I have been very good all week keeping my calories low. And I'm finally back in my skinny shorts today!

I got a sort of compliment today. I saw somebody at work who I don't regularly see. It's hot out so I'm wearing shorts and a tank top. The lady said I was "too skinny" and that I'm losing too much weight. I told her I was in a normal weight range (I am). She said it didn't look good on me (I disagree), that she could see my bones (she meant my collarbones, which I think are my sexiest feature). She also said I have skinny legs. People just get so used to "fat" as the norm that a normal weight on someone becomes "too skinny." Still, I'll take it as a compliment. :)

My blood test numbers from my doctor came today. I asked them to send me the results because my follow-up appointment isn't until late next month (and they are doing my PAP that day so I will be flying high on some serious pain drugs).

Anyway, as I suspected, the egg yolks were raising my LDL (bad) cholesterol. The LDL was back down again. Here's the numbers and the ranges:

Total cholesterol: 162...125-200
Triglycerides: 55...<150
VLDL: 11...5-35
Calculated LDL: 66...<130 - with no other risk factors it should be <160
HDL: 85...>46
Cholesterol/HDL ratio: 1.9...<5.0

So my total is way down (it was over 200 last time). Triglycerides are up slightly, but still very good, probably because I'm eating controlled-carb now instead of low-carb. VLDL is up slightly, but still excellent. HDL is down very slighty, but still awesome. And my total/HDL ratio is down to the lowest ever, probably because my overall total is down.

Fasting glucose was 81. HbA1C was 5.0. The paper says non-diabetic is less than 6.0. Mean plasma glucose was 101 (no range given), with this note: On September 6, 2005, Quest Diagnostics changed the calculation based on Hemoglobin A1c from an estimation of mean whole blood glucose to an estimation of mean plasma glucose. This was done at the recommendation of the American Diabetes Association. Mean plasma glucose levels will be generally 10-20% higher than mean whole blood glucose levels.

My thyroid results were interesting. TSH and T-4 were in range (TSH was on the high end, though), but T-3 was out of range, a little high. I know I am always cold and have difficulty losing body fat, but a very easy time gaining fat. I did some online research and being hypothyroid (high T-3 and TSH) does slow down metabolism! That is me! Other symptoms are difficulty losing weight and "cold intolerance." It's all falling into place now!

T-4 Total: 5.3. The range is 4.5-12.5. In range.
T-3 Uptake: 35.5. The range is 22-35. Out of range.
Free Thyroxine Index: 1.9. The range is 1.4-3.8. In range.
Thyroxine-Free: 0.9. Range is 0.8-1.8. In range.
TSH: 4.07. Range is 0.4-4.5. In range.

The bill for all these tests came today. The entire physical came to $502! Wow. Lupe negotiated a 25% discount, leaving $376.50. My employer covers 80% ($301.20), so my portion is $75.30. Today is payday so I gave Lupe a check right away.

Looks like I'm down about 10 pounds since Sunday. Yay me! I've been very good with food and carbs. I know it's just water weight, but I'll take the loss any way I can get it. :)

So I have a new apartment! Yesterday I asked Colleen to have the owner contact me directly since he doesn't want his number given out. He did call me (the number was blocked, lol) and I talked with him directly about the rent issue.

He said he can't promise not to raise the rent - that it has to do with the market - but he did say that the market has been pretty stable for quite a while. I can understand this. He didn't come across like the owners of where I live now - raising the rent the max allowed every year.

So he might be a good owner looking for good tenants. He did thoroughly check me out. Not just the standard credit check, but he actually checked my employment and references.

With the rent issue out of the way I will go ahead and sign the papers on Friday. Once I sign on the dotted line and give them the money it's a done deal. Now to deal with the packing and cleaning! Eek! Hopefully this new apartment is where God wants me.

The photos of the apartment (taken from the Craig's List ad) can be found in this post from a few days ago.

No exercise today except the walk from BART to work.

Never did get lunch yesterday - too busy with work and personal stuff, so my calories were on the low side for a workout day. I sure am hungry today, though!

My only exercise today was walking to work from BART as I had to run errands in San Francisco this morning.

Got a call from Colleen this morning that all my stuff checks out and the apartment is mine if I want it! This is very good. :) On Brad's advice I asked her to have the owner call me at his convenience. I want to talk with him about the rent issue. I hope I find the right words to say. Lord, give me favor in his eyes and the right words to say!

If all goes well I am due to sign the papers, give them $1450. The owner will be out of town so I am meeting with a woman named Gloria.

I talked to Helena (the owner of where I live now) yesterday to set up the carpet cleaners, tell her the day I'm moving, and reiterate to them that I want my entire $895 deposit back. The manager of where I live, Rene, said they will rip me off for all they can get if I don't stand up to them. He said they don't want to go to court, so tell them that if I don't get my money back I'm taking legal action.

They also under the misguided notion that after I've lived there five years, the apartment will be ready to rent right after I move out. After five years of wear and tear...um, no.

I can't wait for this whole thing to be over and be in my new apartment so that I can focus on the truly important things in life.

Week 66, Day 2

Calories eaten yesterday: 1169
Fat: 26g (20%)
Carbs: 85g (29%)
Protein: 146g (49%)
Weight this morning: 134.8 (One week ago: 133.2)
Calories burned in exercise today: 412

Pounded the water yesterday so I am down a little today. Not where I should be, but better than yesterday. At least I'm back into the 130s again.

I was going to do legs today, but decided to try my hand at the spinning class. I thought - what the hell, should be a good workout. So after 20 minutes of doing legs, I joined the spinning class. Had a hard time getting started because the tension control didn't work on the first bike I hopped on and I had to change. Then I had to adjust the seat on the second bike and between fighting those two things I lost some time. With the cool down at the end I'm counting 40 minutes.

I was tired after the class and didn't feel like trying to weight train my legs anymore after all that pedaling (!), so I walked to the cardio room and got on a stationary bike there and pedaled at a much slower, easier pace for another 30 minutes.

I had my protein and carb snack on my way to work and then walked in from the train station (30 minutes, 1.5 miles). I'm wiped and trying to get some caffeine in me!

Tomorrow is my mail run into San Francisco, so the walk to work from the train will be my exercise. Yes, I do a lot of walking. I have no car so it's easy to simply skip the bus and walk for exercise.

Colleen (apartment liaison) called Brad today to verify my employment, so that is coming along. She'll also call some or all of the references I provided so I'm still in waiting mode.

Ok, now to catch up on other numbers.

I couldn't bear to weigh myself this morning after Tuesday's binge. :(

Calories eaten Friday: 1342

Carbs: 84g (25%)
Protein: 131g (39%)
Weight Friday morning: 134.4 (One week ago: 129)
Calories burned in exercise Friday: 273

Looks like I gained about 5 1/2 pounds from the binge. :(

Weight Saturday morning: 133.2 (One week ago: 132.8)
Calories burned in exercise Saturday: 141

Calories burned in exercise today: 455

So from a one day binge I gained nearly 5 pounds. My body is truly a fat storing machine and hates me. I weighed this much last September! I've lost 9 months worth of hard work in one week! If that isn't the definition of a body that hates me, I don't know what is. :-p

But I am not giving up. I didn't get as far as I have by giving up. I just have to get it through my thick skull that I have to behave!

Friday Brad and I drove to the bank so I could deposit the check I got from cashing in my vacation money, then walked along the shoreline in Oakland for 2 hours. It was so hot I could wear shorts and a tank top. After that we went shopping - I badly needed groceries.

Saturday after church we dropped another box of stuff off at Goodwill, then walked once around the lake. I had bugged Brad on Friday about my upcoming move and that he said he would help and so far hadn't. He decided to tackle the mini blinds Saturday afternoon. We determined that the cats wrecked three of the five blinds in the apartment, and what the sizes were. Then we were off to WalMart to buy new blinds, some cleaning supplies, and I also bought some Alli. With the Alli the whole thing came to $120! Yike!

Brad began to install the blinds, but it was getting late and he promised me a cheese plate and a glass of wine at New Zealander to help me de-stress, so we did that. Then we came back and he worked on the mini blinds while I prepared food for today at work, and Boca burgers for dinner last night.

It got to be really late and he had only two blinds done with one more to go, and one that he soaked in the bathtub to clean. I suggested he spend the night. I made us coffee and eggs this morning (all whites for me, one yolk for him).

We had another apartment to look at today but first he drove me to the gym to work out while he walked around the lake and surrounding area. I did upper body - arms, shoulders, and back, and ran for 30 minutes on the treadmill.

I was late getting out and we rushed to look at the apartment. This one was a very large one bedroom, on the edge of a bad area with prostitute hotels a half block away. The apartment was old (not always a bad thing), but it needed a lot of work, work the tenant was expected to do.

After that Brad dropped me off a ways from work so I could walk the rest of the way in, and he dropped off my backpack and computer for me. He said he was going back to my apartment and do more work (like finish the remaining mini blind).

My "best bet" is $725 per month, and I have to pay water (they only cover garbage). The liaison, Colleen, contacted me Saturday afternoon and said I had passed the credit check and that the owner would now be contacting my employer and checking references. I had to explain that my boss was on vacation and that Brad was the interim manager. Brad was with me and silently wrote down his numbers to give to Colleen. The owner will probably call him tomorrow, so I am still in "wait and see" mode.

Miscellany

Calories eaten yesterday: 923 (no, that's not a typo)
Fat: 24g (23%)
Carbs: 70g (29%)

Calories burned in exercise today: 83

I couldn't bear to weigh myself this morning. Last night's weight was about 150 so I knew I would just be depressed this morning. Maybe I'll weigh myself tomorrow and face the music.

Ate very light yesterday. I wasn't terribly hungry, plus after about three days worth of food I needed to cut way back. I think it would have been better to just fast yesterday, but I am such a food slut and my stomach always wins.

My plan today is to eat fairly light. I'm hoping to come in under 1300 calories even with my glass of wine.

Got to bed about 2:30 a.m. and slept in today. Usually when I sleep in I wake up about 11 a.m. Today when I pried open my eyes it was well past noon! I guess I was tireder than I thought! I did take a Benedryl and 1mg of Xanax before bed to help me sleep.

I guess I slept like a log because (more gross stuff about Alli here) when I got up this morning I found greasy poop all over my underwear, and it had also soaked through to my nightgown (remember Tuesday's binge?). I don't even remember farting or anything last night that could make that happen! It was easy enough to clean myself up, but I usually remember when it happened and this time I don't.

On the apartment, Brad turned in the application for the Fruitvale studio yesterday. I will call the liaison in a couple of days and bug her about it's status. Right now all I can do is wait and hope and scan other option in case this fall through. She said the owner would offer the apartment to the first applicant that passes the credit check so I can only hope there's no one else in front of me.

My Bay To Breakers CD of all my images came today. They were read only so I copied them into another folder on my desktop so I could weed out the photos that didn't include me (there were several photos of other people with my number [???]) and rename the photos with me. I have them up on Flickr now. Here's the entire set with the new photos added.

More on moving

Calories burned in exercise today: 110

After yesterday I didn't weigh myself this morning. I probably ate at least three days' worth of food yesterday, so I'm not very hungry today. I skipped breakfast and am just trying to drink a lot.

The latest news on looking for apartments is I am now looking at a place I looked at before. They had two apartments available. A cheap one that was old and a more expensive one that has been totally redone. The cheap one has been taken, but the refurbished one is still open. It's $725 a month, and I would have to pay my own water and PG&E. The owner only covers garbage. I was told he raises the rents "occasionally."

I don't have the application they gave me anymore, but I do have a generic one all made out and they said they would take that. I photocopied it and Brad is dropping it off at another apartment building where the owner can pick it up. The liaison told me that the owner knows that I want the apartment. They pay the screening fee so now I just wait and hope no one else is ahead of me for it.

This apartment is small for the price (probably why they are having trouble filling it), but if I can live there longer then it will be worth it.

Since the Craig's List link will eventually disappear, here the description with photos:

Charming studio in convenient location.
Close to Farmer Joe’s market and 580 freeway.
Full of old world charm with lots of wood molding and original hardwood floors.
Large closet in living room.
Separate kitchen and bath with solid surface countertops.
Small single story 6 unit complex so you will not have anyone above you and few steps to entry.
Low deposit and we pay screening fees.

Physician & Pharmaceutical Phun

This one is going to be long.

Where do I start? My alarm went off at 6:45 a.m. I got up, weighed myself, and got dressed. Brad was there shortly after 7 with a black Venti coffee for me and we were out the door about 7:30. I left the cats extra food since I didn't know if I would make it home before work.

Brad and I were at the clinic in Castro Valley well before 9 a.m. I made out a bunch of paperwork. They said they needed a urine sample so I did that. Later they asked for two days' worth of stool samples and sent me off with a kit that I am to complete and mail off.

They took me to an exam room and the doctor's assistant took my vitals. My blood pressure was low (about 90/60 I believe), and my temperature was 97.6 or some such (about 1 degree below normal).

They performed an EKG on me with about 10 electrodes attached to various parts of my body. I laid on the exam table and the lady said just to relax.

The assistant then took three vials of blood for testing - liver, glucose, cholesterol, thyroid, and something else I don't remember. She had to stab me twice because I moved my head and turned away when she stabbed me the first time and she said my vein moved. The second stab didn't hurt as much at least.

After the blood tests they gave me a NutriGrain bar and a juice box. I took the box, but turned down the bar since I had a Snickers with me.

Then they took me to the back for chest x-rays from the back and side.

Dr. Turns seemed nice. Since the clinic in Alameda refused to send me records without my written consent in person, I brought in my prescription bottles. He agreed to keep me on the Celexa and Xanax. They want to see me back for a PAP smear. I asked the doctor for a couple of Darvon (a prescription painkiller) since I am a virgin and even the junior forceps hurt like hell. He readily agreed. I eventually walked out with a prescription for 100 Celexa pills (3 refills), 100 Xanax pills (the full 1mg type!) (1 refill), and 10 Darvon (no refill of course).

After the doctor we went to McDonald's where I had a Big Mac (light sauce), a medium fries (split with Brad), and a sugar-free vanilla iced coffee. After that we drove back to Oakland and went to Jack in the Box where I has a sourdough grilled steak sandwich, curly fries (split with Brad again) and the new Kona coffee shake.

Then we drove to my old doctor and filled out the paperwork for a transfer of my records to the new doctor. Thank God that is over!

Then we went to Safeway and I got one donut, and then onto Applebee's for a Mochatini and the hot fudge dessert shooter (a small dessert). The dessert shooter has vanilla ice cream and I told the bartender to put lots of chocolate on top. She mentioned Lourd's ice cream around the corner (how could I forget?!) so we went there next and I got a junior sundae with Rocky Road ice cream.

Then Brad and I went to Costco to get my prescriptions filled. I called Canada and they said they could fill the Xanax, but only if I mailed in the prescription (no faxing allowed), and that seemed too much of a hastle.

Costco turned out to be hecka cheap. 100 tablets (1mg each) of generic Xanax was only $12.56, and 10 tablets of Darvon was $7.41. I didn't think they would be cheapest for my Celexa, but I asked then to check anyway. They do have a generic for it and 100 tablets (40mg each - my normal dose) is just $10.24!!! WTF?!? I pay about $75 for that amount in Canada! How it is so cheap here? Anyway, I got all my prescriptions for about $30.

They said it would take about 35 minutes to fill all the prescriptions. I had a hot dog and Diet Coke while we waited.

After all this Brad drove me to work and I was only a little late. I asked him to get me three cookies at Subway. Yum-my! I went back later and got three more cookies and a 6-inch ham sub (they were out of turkey and chicken).

Whew! What a day! Needless to say, I will not be going to the gym tomorrow. I'm sleeping in and recovering from today. Also, I seem to have hurt my right upper thigh either during my workout yesterday or from some way I slept last night. It hurts to walk so running is out of the question. However, I think it's minor and should resolve itself fairly quickly. I'll "walk it off" until it feels better.

No exercise today. Since I didn't come in on BART I didn't even get my 30 minute walk in.

---------------------------------

Okay, the next part is me "thinking out loud" about how much Darvon/Tylenol to take before my Pap.

The Darvon (Darvocet) (100mg) is paired with acetaminophen (Tylenol, actual name paracetamol) (650mg) to prevent abuse as Tylenol will make you really sick and kill you if you take too much. So I have been researching how much Tylenol is too much so I can take the max dose for pain without doing any serious damage. So far it's looking like 4000mg of Tylenol could do serious damage, and possible 3250mg (the amount in five Darvon). Four Darvon would be 2600mg, quite safe.

Wikipedia says:
The toxic dose of paracetamol is highly variable. In individuals over 6 years of age, single doses above 200 mg/kg consumed over a single 24-hour period have a reasonable likelihood of causing toxicity. If an individual has consumed large quantities of paracetamol over a 48 hour period, a dose of above 6 grams or 150 mg/kg in the subsequent 24 hour period may cause toxicity. Toxicity can also occur when multiple smaller doses within 24 hours exceeds these levels, or even with chronic ingestion of doses as low as 4 g/day, and death with as little as 6 g/day. Consumption of alcohol has been tied to a smaller dose toxicity.

So running the numbers I am about 130 lbs. at my lowest weight of the week. That's 59 kilograms. So 200mg/kg is 59x200 which equals 11,800, or about 12g of Tylenol. According to the article above, it would take 4000mg of chronic ingestion to kill, or 6000mg all at once.

(Lest anyone think to kill yourself with Tylenol, trust me, don't! Death by Tylenol is slow and painful and takes several days.)

But I am still unclear about what one dose (only ONE time) of 3250mg would do to me. All that is clear is that I don't want to take 4000mg or more all at once. The pharmacist at Costco said to take it about 30+ minutes before my procedure as that is when the drug "peaks." I'll take 4-5 tablets.

I have no wish to hurt or kill myself so I am researching carefully to make the procedure as painless as possible without hurting myself.

Went to the gym. Today was lower body day so I did mostly leg stuff with some core work. Cardio was a 30 minute treadmill run. I was tired today. I had to really push myself through my weight training and didn't start feeling good until quite a ways into the run. I ran a bit slower due to the tiredness. Total distance: 2.75 miles. After taking the train to my stop I walked to work from there: 1.5 miles.

Tomorrow is the appointment with my new doctor. They are doing "full bloodwork" which means fasting for a minimum of 12 hours. Since my appointment is at 9 a.m. I am not allowed to eat after 9 p.m. tonight which will mean going home hungry and falling asleep hungry. :( I hope I can sleep. I plan to eat my evening and bedtime snacks, along with my dinner and salad, all at once.

They want me there before 9 to make out all the paperwork. Then Brad and I are going out and I'm going to eat bad food until I am full - a mini binge. Cookies in the evening aren't out of the question, but I intend to eat somewhat healthy.

Well, the apartment was a bust. They will be raising the rent the 3.3% allowed by law every year, which would mean staying there for 3 years max. Will I ever be able to find an owner who cares about getting a good tenant? Being a good tenant these days doesn't matter. Having any tenant, no matter how horrible, is all that matters anymore. Lord, please help me. I am so sick of moving. The pickings on Craig's List are getting quite thin.

No loss, no gain this week. Considering the weekend, I'm thrilled with that. I woke up twice during the night Friday and ate a lot, and then Brad and I ate A LOT of popcorn at the movies Saturday so I thought for sure I'd be up today. I did drink a lot of water before bed last night so maybe that helped.

What a busy weekend! Friday I did more organizing and then Brad came over and we took off to look at four apartments (two were in the same building renting by the same company).

The first two were nice and had a laundry room on premises, but they told me point blank that they would be raising the rent every year. I don't want to do this again in three years, so no thanks.

The next one was in a bad area of town (good bus service, though), but is the tiniest "apartment" I have ever seen. There was only one main room and one wall of it was lined with a very basic kitchen. Cheap (only $550 a month), but too tiny for me, even though the guy said he didn't plan on raising the rent. There was also no laundry room in the building.

The last apartment was nice and they may or may not raise the rent every year. No extra cat deposit, and quite roomy. There's even a small room on the other side of the kitchen meant to be a dining room but could be used for anything. The downsides are no laundry room which would mean doing my laundry during the day down the street, and that's a good little walk. The bus service at night isn't great, but it's in my old neighborhood only about a mile from where I live now. Daytime buses are fantastic, but I'll have to look at late night buses. It's right on 14th Street (dangerous), but as long as I mostly walk the back streets coming home at night I should be pretty safe.

I plunked down $20 for a credit check and they said they would get back to me tomorrow. If they don't call me, I will call them because this looks like my best bet. I hope I get it.

Between the first two and last two apartments Brad and I got in an hour and 40 minutes walking in the lake area, so at least we got something in.

Then we went grocery shopping (and I bought more Two Buck Chuck) and then home.

Saturday we went to church, but skipped the lunch potluck. We went to Jack London Square, had a couple drinks at a restaurant, and then saw the new Narnia movie. Brad sprung for my ticket and the popcorn. He got a Diet Coke for himself which I took some sips of. The movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian was tre cool! Do be sure to see it. I actually cried at the end when it was revealed that Peter and Susan wouldn't ever come to Narnia again.

After the movie we got coffee at a bookshop and walked around the area a bit. On the way home I asked about a shoe store. I noticed earlier how frayed my sandals were getting. After finding one Payless Shoes closed we ended up at Southshore Center (now called Alameda Towne Center) at the Mervyn's store.

Mervyn's is closing that store so everything is on sale. It's where I usually buy my bras, so I snapped one up (I think it was $24 on sale). I don't need a new bra at the moment, but I will at some point and won't be able to buy it there. Then we continued to the shoe department. It took some hunting but I found a decent pair of sandals for $30, on sale for $21. :)

Neither Brad or I got much sleep on Friday night, so we were pretty wiped out by the time we got home Saturday. Brad asked to stay the night and crashed out on the floor. He drove me to the gym this morning. At the gym I did one hour of weight training (arms, shoulders, and back) and 31 minutes running on the treadmill (3.03 miles).

Brad was still in the area walking the lake so we met at his van and drove toward work. I asked him to let me off at this one trail so I could get some extra walking in (in lieu of walking to work from BART), and he decided to walk with me for a while. In the end, we walked about 20 minutes out the trail (and were near work), and then 20 minutes back to the van. So I got a little walk with him on a Sunday. :)

Week 64, Day 5

Calories eaten yesterday: 1262
Fat: 27g (19%)
Carbs: 102g (33%)
Protein: 151g (48%)
Weight this morning: 130 (One week ago: 128.2)
Calories burned in exercise today: 96

Crap. I'm up today. Why does my body hate me? I swear I have zero metabolism and my body stores every single calorie as fat. ARGH! I'm up almost two pounds from this time last week. How the hell did I gain two pounds?!?

Stayed up late doing laundry so I slept in today. Did more organizing, throwing out, and putting more stuff aside for Goodwill, then walked to work from BART. I now have three boxes ready for Goodwill.

I set up yet another apartment to look at tomorrow. Brad and I may only get a very short walk. I need to make a decision soon and will probably have to take one of the apartments we look at tomorrow.

Last night I decided to pony up and pay for Sports Photo's disk of all my images. About $70, but I want the images and be able to put them up online.

Today I jumped on Amazon and bought a used copy of the three extra Mormon Scriptures in one volume - The Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price.

Week 64, Day 4

Calories eaten yesterday: 1259
Fat: 35g (24%)
Carbs: 98g (30%)
Protein: 145g (45%)
Weight this morning: 129.4 (One week ago: 131.2)
Calories burned in exercise today: 109

Finally the 120s on the scale. Progress.

I debated going to the gym or sleeping in and working on organizing and packing for my move. The move won. I slept in, had some cereal (Special K Protein Plus), and then starting working on going through boxes. I made several trips downstairs to put stuff in the trash or recycling bins. This should count as a workout. Tonight is laundry and tomorrow is more organizing and packing. I've made a good dent in the walk-in closet, but the vanity room, hallway, and living room are now a total mess.

I walked from BART to work for exercise.

This weekend is shaping up to be busy. Friday Brad and I are running around looking at apartments. By the time we finish walking I suspect it will be dark so I told him to bring his flashlight.

Saturday after church he's going to renew his Costco card. I told him he should make that a high priority just because of the lower gas prices they have. That means shopping at Costco for some basics that I need - Crystal Geyser (2 cases), and Boca burgers (2 packages). Those are my necessities. At some point we also have to walk, and see the new Narnia movie. Brad suggested leaving right after Sabbath School and not staying for lunch. I agree.

Somewhere in all this we have to stop at Safeway. Tomorrow is payday and I need serious groceries. I also need to cook up more chicken. Chicken breasts are one of my main protein sources and I go through them pretty quick.

A word on the book currently listed in the "Reading" category on the left hand side. Yes, I am trying to read The Book of Mormon. This is not because I consider it Scripture, but because I want to learn more about Mormonism. I am reading it purely as fiction in order to learn more about the church. I minored in Religious Studies in college and am especially interested in all western religions and cults. I'm several chapters into Nephi and so far it's mildly interesting.

Voting, blocking, moving

Calories eaten yesterday: 1357
Fat: 23g (16%)
Carbs: 118g (35%)
Protein: 163g (49%)
Weight this morning: 132.4 (One week ago: 132.4)
Calories burned in exercise today: 102

Today was voting day here in California. We had a couple state propositions to decide on, plus local measures, and local elections. I got up, voted, then caught the bus to BART to go into the City. I checked my mail and closed my savings account (the bank was too far away and too far out). I only had about $69 in the account anyway. My exercise was walking to work from where I get off BART. I stopped at WalMart and spent most of the money I'd just got from savings. I mostly bought food items, but I did get a shower curtain since my current one is pretty much ready for the trash and I want to leave a new one behind me when I move so the owners don't charge me for that). I checked the price of venetian blinds and they look cheap enough. I have to replace at least two that the cats ruined.

Tub3dYou blocked me on YouTube. He was very mean to me during a discussion. One person was nice and I thanked that person for nicely setting me straight. Tub3d said, "Get bent, troll." LOL! He knew he wasn't being nice and that someone else had. He couldn't stand that he was wrong so he blocked me so he doesn't have to think about it. The psychology of it all is fascinating - the kind of things angry people do to protect their egos. I truly pity him. That kind of anger is not healthy.

I only hope that others will see his true nature and unsubscribe from him because that amount of anger means a person is VERY unsafe. At least NotSoOldHippy stood up for me. I left a comment on his channel and thanked him.

You know, when I first came to the NutriSystem board I had several people accuse me of being a troll. It seems calling someone a "troll" is the fallback when you can't say anything intelligent. Now I am a well-loved member of the NS community and the people who accused me? Gone.

Ok, enough about that insane person. I have enough insane people to deal with in real life, lol!

On the apartment front, not a lot of luck. The market isn't like it was the last time I had to do this. I know I will have to settle for a place a fraction of the size of where I live now, and that's okay. I'm going through my closet box by box and sorting things - some things I am keeping, but a great deal is being either thrown out or given to Goodwill. I currently have two more Goodwill boxes ready to go. I told Brad we need to get them out because one is making it hard to walk down the hallway.

I am getting rid of so much, but it feels good to lighten the load and simplify. It's kind of fun to throw out/give away so much and just get rid of it! I have so many things in my walk-in closet that I never use! I'm doing one or two boxes per night, as time permits.

The unit in the "theater apartments" may be filled. I told the guy that if the other person doesn't take it I am interested. I also have two or three more places lined up to see on Friday.

Week 64, Day 2

Calories eaten yesterday: 1361
Fat: 29g (19%)
Carbs: 100g (29%)
Protein: 179g (52%)
Weight this morning: 133.6 (One week ago: 134)
Calories burned in exercise today: 449

So tired. The tiredness is really starting to get to me. I'm getting enough sleep and eating right so it has to be the drop in medication. Even though today was supposed to be a day to take only half a tablet, I took a whole one. I was so wiped out that I drank two energy drink during my workout. It barely helped. I pushed through 1 hour of lower body weight training, and then tried to run on the treadmill. I could barely maintain 5.2 mph, and was eventually able to get up to 5.3, but that was it. I managed the full 30 minutes, but only covered 2.67 miles. I walked to work from the train station and stopped at WalMart for an electric toothbrush. I couldn't afford the one I wanted at Safeway yesterday, but WalMart's prices were low enough that I had enough cash.

I finished You: On A Diet yesterday. I'll be writing a review at some point and posting it. Overall - good book and I recommend it.

Brad is looking into the Sabbath issue which is encouraging. I believe the Sabbath is for today so anytime someone looks into the issue it's good. I believe that if anyone does so with an open mind they will come to the conclusion that the Sabbath was never done away with or changed by Jesus or the apostles.

Calories eaten Thursday: 1321

Carbs: 117g (35%)
Protein: 140g (42%)
Weight Thursday morning: 128.2 (One week ago: 130.8)
Calories burned in exercise Thursday: 82

Gave blood Friday and binged out on the cookies and such in the snack area afterwards. :-p
Weight Friday morning: 129 (One week ago: 130.2)
Calories burned in exercise Friday: 193

Crap. I gained since yesterday. My body really hates me.

Weight Saturday morning: 131.6 (One week ago: 131)
Calories burned in exercise Saturday: 264

Calories burned in exercise today: 454

I know why I showed a loss even with the cookie binging on Friday. It's because I did pretty well yesterday, and drank two bottles of water right before bed last night. Lots of water always seems to help me drop weight.

Okay, I gave blood on Friday. This time instead of just taking photos, I made a video of my experience donating blood. Click here to see the video, but be warned not it's not for the squeamish and I recorded them sticking the needle in my arm.

I was starving and caved into all the snacks they had sitting out. I had two packages of Nutter Butter cookies (about 220 calories per package), one package of Famous Amos cookies (about 320 calories), three Pro 70 bars (70 calories each), a package of a nut/yogurt chip/raisin mix (about 150 calories), a package of Cheese-Its (about 220 calories), a Special K snack bar (90 calories), and a Nutri-Grain cereal bar (about 170 calories). I probably ate a days' worth of calories just in sugar and other junk. By the way, stay away from the Nutri-Grain cereal bars - the first ingredient is high fructose corn syrup (!).

In my defense, I did well that morning and fairly well the rest of the day. I didn't use it as an excuse to binge the rest of the day. I ate more than usual, but I kept it healthy and had my normal dinner.

Brad and I went walking, but we only did an hour and 25 minutes. We were doing a lot of uphill and I didn't have the blood volume for that kind of hike.

We went home, watched TV, and ordered a Pay-Per-View movie to watch on Saturday.

Saturday was church and then Brad and I walked around the lake - twice. I had more energy and felt I could handle the loop twice (6 miles total). It took us just under two hours. Food-wise I did okay. Becky brought homemade bread to church, but I kept myself to one slice of cinnamon bread and one slice of regular bread.

Then we went home, made microwave popcorn (low-fat of course), and watched our Pay-Per-View movie, The Golden Compass. Brad really wanted to see it. It was okay. I could definitely see the anti-Christian elements in it. The guy who wrote the book the movie is based on (part of a trilogy) is anti-Christian and it comes through in the movie. I won't be seeing anymore sequels that come out.

Next week we get paid and hope to see Prince Caspian on the big screen.

Today I went to the gym. I did upper body weight training for one hour - arms, shoulders, and back. Then I ran on the treadmill for a half hour. I felt tired all through the weights and for part of my run, but eventually my energy got better and I was finally able to get up to 5.9 mph (though it took me longer than usual). I covered a total of 2.87 miles. Tomorrow I'll do lower body.

I've been tired a lot and I think cutting back on my meds may be part of the reason. I know my tiredness this weekend can be blamed on giving blood, but I've been feeling more fatigued since at least last week.
