Unless I can lose three pounds by tomorrow I'll show a gain. Like I tried to tell "Woo," too many calories make me gain. *sigh*

My glucose meter and test strips came today! The test strips came from one seller, the test kit from another. The kit included a meter (used), a lancet device, and five lancets. There was no control solution, test solution, or instruction book. Brad and I managed to download the instruction book online. I called the number on the back of the meter and talked to a woman in technical support. She said they would send me out a check strip, test solution, and the instruction book. I told her about the lancet device and she told me how to open it to load the lancets.

I wanted to test my blood sugar before I'd eaten lunch. I exercised very long today - 30 on the crossramp elliptical and then 1 hour of walking. I didn't do any weight training since I did that yesterday. It had been about 5 hours since breakfast, and it had been a low-carb breakfast: two thick slices of bacon and one egg fried in Pam. I didn't think the lancet device was working properly, but Brad said to test it, and when I did it drew blood. So it is working. I popped in a test strip and it said my glucose level was 105. I really thought it would be lower than that.

I proceeded to eat lunch: broccoli (8 oz.), ground chicken (8 oz.), Diet Rock Star Energy Drink (sugar free - 4g carbs for entire can), and one bite of candy (I threw out the rest of the piece). I waited one hour and tested again. This time it was 107, so a good low-carb meal didn't really raise it.

I'm going to carry this kit with me everywhere! It's my new toy. :)

I also hopped on eBay and found a One Touch Ultra kit, supposed to be one of the best on the market. It was about $27 including shipping. This one is brand new so if my used one is bad, this one will still work. Here's a picture. Click to enlarge.

Due to the amount of exercise I did today, I had over 16,000 steps by the time I got to work. :)

My vacation check came today. Yay! I'll deposit it tomorrow and pay my bills. It's for $260 which should get me back on an even keel, or at least go a long way towards that. My local phone service is making noises about getting paid. :-p
