rainI'm a stressball today. It's been a crappy day - the weather, running around in the weather, and spending obscene amounts of money because it's payday.

I went grocery shopping under ominous gray skies and spent $200 on food that I then had to lug home on the bus. Then I went home, washed and prepped all the veggies, and portioned out two huge cartons of cottage cheese. Then I took the bus to BART, and when I got to my stop I walked to work (1.5 miles). It was trying to rain and I was hoping it would hold off but it didn't. Thankfully I had my big umbrella and since the wind and rain were coming straight at me I held the umbrella is front of me for the whole walk. I stopped at WalMart on the way and spent another $200 on stuff, then struggled to work with all that stuff, still holding my umbrella and still walking into the wind.

Tonight is laundry night.

I am wound up, unhappy, extremely stressed out, and generally in a bad mood. I have more shopping to do on Saturday and only $200 left for the next two weeks. *sigh*

Weekend plans:
Friday: Walk with Brad. If it is raining we'll just go once around the lake (3 miles); if it is not raining we'll walk along the Marina (6-7 miles).

Saturday: Church. I may or may not walk with Brad depending on weather and what happens Friday. Go shopping for heavy groceries in the evening - wine, yogurt, cat litter, diet soda, and some stuff I have coupons for.

Sunday: Back to the gym.

Thanks to Mor for the rain photo. Click it to enlarge.

Week 46, Day 4

Calories eaten yesterday: 1457
Fat: 32g (21%)
Carbs: 127g (37%)
Protein: 141g (42%)
Weight this morning: 135.4 (One week ago: 135)
Calories burned in exercise today: 396

I'm pretty tired today after going to the gym for the last three days straight, but got up at 9:30 and went to the gym. I did one hour of lower body weights with some core. I could go heavier on the leg (thigh) machine and that felt good. I'm also trying to shorten my rest periods when I do three sets of the walking lunges (up the ramp and back is one "set").

Then I got on the treadmill and jogged for 30 minutes - 2.33 miles. Then I had my protein shake and high-GI carb serving (I use the 100 Calorie Packs - yummy!) and hopped the train to work. I then walked from the train station to work - 30 minutes. Whew! 2 hours of exercise and I am BEAT!

But I went to the gym four days in a row and jogged/ran on the treadmill for a half hour all four days! Do I rock or what? :)

Now if weight loss would just follow from this I'd be in heaven. But no matter how little I eat or how much I work out I can't lose an ounce of fat. :( To make it all worse I still have a serious case of the hungries, likely from all the treadmill running. My body is screaming for food so it can stay fat.

I brought my laptop to work today to upload some more YouTube videos.

Tomorrow is payday and I am buying mega groceries. I'm low on everything.

Registration opened for Bay To Breakers today! I'm not amused that registration is now $44 and the mailing fee is now $10, bringing my total to $54 just to run in a race! Good grief who came up with that idea! Nevertheless, this is the only race I run so I ponied up the dough. Thank God tomorrow is payday!

I got more YouTube videos up today, so check 'em out! I won't place them here since some people have slow connections.

Week 46, Day 3

Calories eaten yesterday: 1376
Fat: 26g (18%)
Carbs: 132g (40%)
Protein: 141g (43%)
Weight this morning: 135.6 (One week ago: 136.8)
Calories burned in exercise today: 304

Since I have nothing better to do I've been hitting the gym every day. Since I did lower body yesterday I did upper body today (same as Sunday). Did that with some core work for 1 hour, then got on the treadmill and jogged for 30 minutes (4.5 mph - 2.25 miles). I wanted to walk to work from the train station, but it's raining again so I took the bus. Hope to go back to the gym tomorrow for another rare fourth session in one week, then go grocery shopping Thursday.

I finished my testimony video last night and need to bring my computer to work at some point to upload that.

We get paid Thursday and have some major shopping to do. I'll go grocery shopping at my usual store Thursday (I am totally out of tomatoes and cucumbers!), then Brad will take me to the Safeway in Alameda, Trader Joe's, and WalMart on Saturday evening for some major heavy stuff (cat litter, wine, diet soda, diet energy drinks). I'm also paying bills of course and paying as much as I can spare (after all the shopping) toward my computer.

I'm planning on taking Brad out to dinner Saturday night as well. It's the least I can do after all he's done for me, plus I really want to go out and have a little fun. I know he likes New Zealander, but I prefer Applebee's and they have great wine and a Weight Watchers menu that can be tweaked to be low-carb as well as low-fat.

I have been majorly hungry this week. I think it's all the jogging/running the past few days. *sigh* I'm fighting it but giving in to bites of things more often than I should.

Here's me in my Walf For Life t-shirt. I look so short, fat, and stocky. :-p You can click on it for a larger size.

Week 46, Day 2

Calories eaten yesterday: 1338
Fat: 26g (18%)
Carbs: 126g (39%)
Protein: 138g (43%)
Weight this morning: 137.4 (One week ago: 138)
Calories burned in exercise today: 422

I was up until 2 a.m. working on my testimony video to post on YouTube. I had just started the fourth and final part when my computer crashed. I restarted it, put it in sleep mode, and went to bed. I'll finish another time.

Got up at my usual time today and hit the gym. Yesterday was upper body so today I did lower body and some core work for 1 hour, followed by running on the treadmill for 30 minutes (5 mph so 2.5 miles). Then I had my protein shake and high-GI carb waiting for the train, and walked to work from the station I get off at (30 minute walk). Whew!

I don't have money to buy groceries until payday, so I have to wait until Thursday (payday) to do that, so I have nothing better to do the rest of the week except go to the gym. I'm going to also get Brad to take me shopping on Saturday so I can get some of the heavy stuff (like cat litter) and also hit Trader Joe's for wine and to see if they have the Fage yogurt. I need everything - eggs, frozen dinners, veggies, salad, cottage cheese, fat free cheese, soy burgers, cat litter, wine, Alli, other diet products, etc.

Speaking of Alli, the stuff worked again this weekend. :) I see some of the fat I ate ending up in the toilet instead of on my hips. :) I'm happy with that.

Thankfully this next paycheck is the third this month so rent does not have to come out of it. It will all be spent though. Anything left over after groceries and bills will go toward paying off my computer. I still owe $700-$800 on it.

The tank top and button I ordered from the Walk For Life came today. The button is on my backpack and I'm going to wear the shirt to the gym tomorrow. :)

Yay! Under 140 on a Sunday finally. :) Maybe if I am really good this week I'll see that again next week.

Okay, on to my weekend.

Friday: It poured rain. Brad and I went once around the lake (3 miles) and got totally soaked. I wore my raincoat over a long skirt over leggings. The skirt and leggings got totally soaked. I wore my hiking boots and they got so wet that they were squishing when we finished.

Saturday: I was exhausted. Brad had fallen asleep on my bed Friday night so I spent half the night on the floor before he woke up at about 2:30 a.m. and we switched places. So I got really poor sleep. To make up for Friday and since it wasn't raining we went once around the lake that night (3 miles).

I actually had 2 cups of coffee before Bible study Saturday and still fell asleep during the study! I slept right through the potluck (I did manage to pile up a couple plates with salad at least) and ended up at 7-11 trying to find something healthy to eat. I got a triple strength diet energy drink, a cheese stick, an apple, a Weight Watchers lemon cake, and a taquito (just one). We had our biannual church business meeting I did have 4 mini candy bars, a few vanilla wafers, and a little candy corn, but it WAS my cheat day so I don't feel too bad about that. :) I drank a bunch of iced tea sweetened with Stevia.

Sunday: Brad crashed on my floor last night and drove me to the gym this morning.

I did one hour of upper body with some core work. Felt pretty strong today after not doing any strength training over the weekend. Today is my Monday so I'm back at work.

Cardio was jogging on the treadmill for 30 minutes at 4.5 mph.

I wanted to walk to work from the train station but it started misting hard and I didn't have an umbrella. The bus came along so I hopped on it.

After the issue with my PayPal account being compromised, I finally have it restored. Someone made two payments from my account of $37.50 each. PayPal detected the fraud and put a hold on my account. I was able to fulfill three of their four requirements. The one I couldn't fulfill was verifying my shipping address. Well, I get thing shipped to work, but I don't get mail or bills here; neither do I get them where I live. I called them and explained all this and within 24 hours my account was back with $75 in it - the two payment of $37.50 reversed. Unfortunately, that's money that is no longer in my bank account and I am in negative numbers until the next payday. I do want to leave the $75 in the PayPal account because I do use PayPal for several things - such as anything I purchase on eBay.

So that's where PayPal stands - resolved. :)

I did go to the gym today for a rare fourth session in a week. Since I did upper body yesterday I did lower body again today, then walked for 40 minutes on the treadmill.

There is a big storm blowing in tomorrow so Brad and I will have to settle for a short walk and go straight home because we'll be wet. :( I was looking forward to a long walk and getting some good steps in.

Speaking of steps I had 16,000 yesterday because the bus never showed up and I had to wait 30 minutes for the next one, plus my regular wait time. So I got in lots of pacing and lots of steps. Hopefully that will help make up for tomorrow.

I put up three more YouTube videos today. Check them out.

Had a serious case of the hungries yesterday. I gave in to a few too many Ritz crackers and Cheese Nips. *sigh* I'm so fat and yet I am compelled to eat the junk that surrounds me at work because I am always so damn hungry. :(

Went to the gym today, did upper body weights for one hour, then 30 minutes cardio on two different elliptical machines. Then I walked to work from the train station for another 30 minutes of exercise.

For biceps and triceps today I tried the preacher curl machines in the ab area. I had to go about 10 lbs. lighter on each exercise. When I can't pull my arms into my sides I can't lift as much. I think I'll give these machines a shot for a while. It'll be a nice change of pace.

On the uneven push-ups I can raise the bench to level five (five steps plus the top step), but trying to use just the fingers of the hand on the step eludes me.

I think I'll hit the gym tomorrow for a rare fourth session and do lower body.

Baby it's cold outside! FREEZING. COLD. My heater is constantly on when I am home, and since I spend so much time outside (walking, waiting for the bus, running errands) I am bundling with a sweatshirt, light jacket, winter hat, and today I am wearing a long skirt over my leggings for additional warmth! Damn it is cold.

Since yesterday was a holiday I went to the gym and then did my mail run today. It was threatening to rain, but I managed to make the walk to work from the train, stopping for groceries on the way. Since I did groceries today I'll be able to go to the gym tomorrow.

That's about it for today. Keep warm everyone!

Walk For Life West Coast 2008

me at the Walk For LifeClick any of the photos in this post to see a larger size and go to the full set on Flickr.

As I said in another post, Brad and I attended the Walk For Life West Coast on Saturday in San Francisco.

I was glad when the walk finally started. We stood for an hour listening to the speakers, and we had gotten there early. It was cold and my legs were very stiff. It was a large crowd. The Catholic News Agency says there were about 25,000 walkers and 250 protesters. Last year there were 20,000 walkers. The route was 2.5 miles and wound it's way down the Embarcadero past the piers including the famous Pier 39, eventually ending at Marina Green.

The local ABC station simply said there were "thousands and thousands," and KTVU had a video where they stated there were "over 20,000." The San Francisco Chronicle said "thousands," and labels us as abortion protesters. They won't call us "pro-life."

At any rate, it was a pretty big crowd.

protesters against the Walk For LifeThe thing that struck me the most was how angry the protesters were. It was almost as if their lives were so bad that they wish they had been aborted. They also tried to be as offensive as possible. Why is that? I saw none of that on the pro-life side. The walk was peaceful (on our side at least) and the signs weren't meant to be offensive. The dichotomy between the two groups really struck me. I know I am on the right side.

If you are pro-choice you believe that killing a child in utero is okay. Why does it suddenly become wrong when that child moves outside the womb? What is the difference?

I used to be pro-choice and have gone to pro-choice rallies. I even wrote an article for Circle Network News (a Pagan publication) about abortion, which was published. In it I stated that I had no issue at all with first trimester abortions; I only drew the line at third trimester abortions when the fetus was a viable baby, able to live outside the womb.

Walk For LifeGod has changed all that for me. He showed me that life begins at conception and to stop that life is to play God. I don't believe we have that right, whether it's a child in the womb or a convicted murderer in prison. That is why I am against both abortion and the death penalty.

Abortion harms women. I know one woman who has had an abortion and she does regret it. And did you know that 1/3 of the current generation has been killed through abortion? I was born during a time when abortion was illegal, as were my sister and my brother. I had just turned two years old when the historical Roe v. Wade decision was made - a decision that has wiped out over 51,500,000 children. The news said that abortion "is at it's lowest rate in 30 years," but that "one in five pregnancies end in abortion." That's one in five too many in my opinion.

Walk For LifeIt's a little known fact, but my brother could have been one of those statistics if abortion had been available. He was unwanted and unplanned. After his birth he was put up for adoption. I am sure that he is happy to be alive, and I'm sure his wife feels the same way. They cannot have children so they adopted - adopted another unwanted and unplanned child born to a drug addicted prostitute. I am sure they are glad that prostitute did not abort.

Went to the gym today and did lower body and some ab work with a little upper body thrown in. For cardio I did the half hour treadmill program from the magazine. I wanted to walk to work from the train station but it's been raining all day. All I could do was stand in the bus shelter and watch the rain come down.

The Alli pills seen to finally be having an effect - or rather, side effects. Sometimes when I use the bathroom now I'll see "pizza grease" type stuff floating on the water in the bowl. I haven't soiled my pants or anything and I mostly view this positively because it's fat that is not being stored as body fat. :)

Food-wise I am back on the straight and narrow after eating everything in sight on Saturday. I need to be really good if I want this weight gone!

I don't know how to count the walking I did on Saturday, so I just didn't count it. I know I burned quite a bit though.

Calories burned in exercise today: 309

This was a huge weekend.

Friday Brad and I walked and walked and walked - over 2 hours. The step program I use says we walked 7.4 miles. I ended up with just over 21,000 steps for the day.

Saturday was the Walk For Life in San Francisco. I've never been, so the length of the walk surprised me. Brad came too and wanted to walk back to the start (where the train station was) instead of taking the shuttles provided. Our first stop on the way back was Buena Vista. Buena Vista is the cafe that created Irish coffee. Since we were in San Francisco and the walk passed right by the cafe, it made sense to go. I had three Irish coffees and Brad had one plus a hot toddy. We shared a shrimp cocktail.

Then I suggested Hooters since I have never been and again, we were had to pass it as we walked back. We each had a pint of beer there (I had lite beer of course), and Brad got cheese sticks with marinara sauce (I had two of the six cheese sticks) and I got a Caesar side salad. The service was great and I really liked it there. Two of the women who work there, including our server, posed for a photo with us before we left.

We finally made it down to Pier 39 where we got massively sidetracked in the shops. We went to a fairy shop where they put a glitter star on my cheek. We found a wine shop and did a wine tasting there and bought some stuff. We even rode the Merry Go Round! That was so much fun! :)

We looked around Pier 39 for a place to eat but didn't find one in our price range that had food I could eat. We walked down the street and found a place a little out of our range, but we were both hungry by that time. I had New York Steak with veggies, and I subbed out the potatoes for extra veggies.

Then we went to Starbucks and I bough Brad an Americano and I got a non-fat sugar-free mocha latte. I've heard bad things about the sugar-free mocha syrup, but I liked it. I split a peppermint bark bar with Brad and got myself a chocolate biscotti. The bark bar was good - I didn't overly care for the peppermint topping, but the "bark" was the most delicious chocolate brownie I have ever tasted.

We ended up taking a bicycle taxi back to the train station, which was fun. :) Total steps for the day were just over 20,000.

I drank way too much alcohol yesterday, but it was a good and happy day and I didn't want it to end. Brad had a bit to drink and more at my house. He said he didn't want to drive home so I pulled out a sleeping bag and yoga mat and put him up for the night on my floor. Better safe than sorry. I'd feel horrible if he were hurt drinking and driving.

Today I was back at the gym again. 1 hour of upper body and core work, plus calves. Good thing today wasn't leg day because my legs haven't recovered yet from all the walking on Friday and Saturday. Cardio was 30 minutes walking on the treadmill, then I also walked to work from the train station (another 30 minutes). That's two hours of exercise and that on top of the weekend - I am bushed!

I'll write more about the Walk For Life, but it deserves its own post. In the meantime, all the photo not dealing with the Walk For Life have been uploaded. The photos are in this set, start at this photo and go forward from there in chronological order.

Sorry I haven't updated here regularly this week. My new computer has kept me busy getting Word files translated into Pages and other things.

I've gotten back to the gym the last two days. I'm still a little sick, but doing better.

I have a new YouTube video up! This one is about Dreamfield's pasta. Is it really low-carb, or is it just marketing hype? Check out my thoughts! If you are a YouTube member be sure to subscribe to my videos so you will know when new ones come out.

I have a big weekend coming up. Brad and I will of course go walking on Friday. Being sick put me seriously behind in steps. Saturday instead of church we are going to the Walk for Life in San Francisco. It's amazing how God has changed my life. There was a time when I would have been a protester instead of a participant. :)

The Walk for Life has only been going on four years and this is my first time participating. I'm excited. Abortion hurts women and I want to stand for life. My own brother might have been aborted if abortion had been legal when he was born. Fetuses are babies, as this ultrasound taken at 12 weeks shows.

Anyway, I plan to take lots of photos and give a full report on Sunday, along with my weigh-in results.

I binged on Friday and more or less binged on Saturday, so I cancelled the weigh-in this week. I've been sick so no exercise.

I'm home from work today and eating light - lots of tea and water plus Colonblow and DetoxaTrim to clean me out and detox from the holidays.

This new computer is great! It's so much faster loading pages, even though I am still on dial-up. The only drawback is that I use Safari and it occasionally closes the program for no reason. I'm hoping it's just a bug in Leopard and will be fixed in updates.

Okay, I'm not going to post photos from the weekend of anything. Go to my Flickr page to see all my latest photos. There are a LOT. I have everything uploaded finally.

Ug. I am sick. :-p That's why I didn't check in here yesterday. I took the day off work.

Today's my birthday so I am binging, but I don't have the energy to do everything I wanted - like walking with Brad. I am just wiped out. I started getting a sore throat two nights ago, called in sick to work on Thursday, and have been dosing on Zicam and echinacea. The Zicam does seem to be keeping my symptoms from being very severe. I'm too tired to go walking with Brad, though.

I came into work for my b-day party and cake. I'll give a full report of the day later.

I got my new computer back! Yay! I am back online at home again and uploading all my Flickr photos as I type.

On the bad side of things, my PayPal account was compromised and accessed by someone else. PayPal has suspended the account and it will take me a while to get full access back again. They make you jump through a lot of hoops to lift the restriction. This IS real and not a phishing scam. I logged in and checked it out on their site by typing the address into the bar myself. :( I'll keep you updated on the progress there. Lowsy criminals.

I'll write more on Sunday!

Diet products, and stress at work

Calories eaten yesterday: 1397

Today was grocery day, so no gym. I walked from BART to work and finally stopped at WalMart. I wanted to buy several items including more Alli, but I also caved and bought NV (about $20 at WalMart). I'll start using it after my birthday when I can get back to plan without all the cheat days that the holidays bring.

A word on the SlimQuick drink mix I bought yesterday. Just like the DexaTrim Max2o, it does blunt appetite. I did a quick price comparison and the SlimQuick is cheaper per serving (about $1 per packet). At any rate, I'll attest that I have tried both of these products and they both help blunt hunger.

I also bought some Special K Protein Water drink mix. Unlike the pre-mixed kind this doesn't have any added sugar - 7g carbs and 5g fiber so only 2g net carbs and it has 5g of protein from whey. 30 calories. Pretty cool. About $5.50 at WalMart for 10 packets.

At work things have been stressful. The entire network went down yesterday (yes, the entire network. A few stations are broadcasting the Internet feed and so have programming, but most are on fill music. The RF transmit amplifier broke. All stations not broadcasting the Internet feed are down until Friday. So it's been fun fun. I was so stressed out that I skipped my evening snack so I could have a glass of wine when I got home.

The computer finally came today - five days late. Stupid Fed Ex. The modem and case also came. My sister sent me a couple things for my birthday that came, too - a family calendar or her, Renato, and Marina (along with pics of other family members), and a 2GB memory card for my camera.

I sent Brad to take both the old and new computer to the computer guru and he did. I have a ton of pictures to share, but no way to get them off my camera. :( Once I get the new computer back the hard work begins - setting it up so that I can connect to the Internet. I miss being able to connect at home!

Mom and Dad both sent me money for my birthday. I deposited it in the bank and then paid $300 to Bill Me Later for the computer. I think I owe between $700 and $800 now.

Bought diet pills at 24 Hour Fitness today -well, sorta. I looked at them closer and they say they support liver function to help you burn fat. We'll see if they help at all. A one month supply cost about $22.

Went to the gym today. I did one hour of weights, mostly lower body, but some upper body and core work. For cardio I did 20 minutes on the stairmaster at levels 5-6, then 10 minutes jogging at 4.5+ mph. I wanted to walk to work from BART but it was raining so I took the bus. Couldn't stop at WalMart either because that would mean some walking in the rain. Hopefully the storm will pass by tomorrow.

The computer still hasn't come. It was originally supposed to be here on the 3rd, then it was changed to the 5th, and now it's the 8th. I tell you, Fed Ex totally sucks.

Brad was supposed to drop both computers by at the computer guru today, so I called him and asked if he could drop them tomorrow. He said he won't be home, but someone will be there. He said he'll take the iMac apart right away and then call me before doing the hard drive transfer. *sigh* I ordered the computer on December 27. What is taking Fed Ex so long? Apple sent it out right away. The computer has been in their system this whole time.

Went into the City today. Got my mail, then went to Old Navy and exchanged the pajama pants again. This time I tried on the pants before exchanging. The small is a bit tight everywhere but the waist, but it's the only one that stays on my waist. Well, my hips. These are hip-hugger pajama bottoms. Oh well.

Then I went to the bank to cash the property check - I will put that money toward the computer costs for taking the iMac apart and transferring the hard drive. Then I hit GNC because my Gold Card expires so this was my last chance to buy stuff with my discount. I got SlimQuick drink mix and carb gel packets for the race this May. I also bought vanilla soy milk and Slim Mints.

During my shift I ran next door to Subway to get bottled water. As I paid the guy there mentioned that I hadn't been there in a long time (true), and said I was "too skinny"! I love compliments like that. Me - too skinny! I don't think so, but I never get tired of hearing things like that. :)

I have a serious case of the hungries today that I am fighting off. Blah.

Bleh. I way overate yesterday so I knew I'd be up today. I suck. I have NO self-control around food. My birthday is Friday and I am staying on plan until then. Saturday is my normal cheat day, and next Sunday I should be able to get back on plan knowing the holidays are finally over and I'll be back to just my one regular cheat day per week.

Friday Brad and I couldn't do much walking due to the huge storm that came through. We went to an indoor mall (bad place for me, lol!) and walked the length of the mall over and over and then even around the outside once and bought a few items.

Saturday was better but there was one very heavy downpour. At church we had communion and Pastor Steve wanted to do something different and have everyone come forward, two at a time, to serve each other. I went with Brad and as I was waiting for other people to clear out for our chance, I suddenly felt this drizzle of water come down on me. I jumped out of the way, and looked up. I couldn't see where it came from, but it was clear that a hole had suddenly broke open in the roof right over the spot where I had been standing! Someone placed a garbage can under it to catch the stream of water.

After church things began to clear and Brad and I walked once around the lake. We were supposed to go bowling, but the place was packed and there was a long wait so we left. We eventually ended up at New Zealander and ended up having dinner there. Brad paid for the cheese and cracker plate that we split and for my hot toddy. I paid for my entree (bunless lamb cheeseburger with a side salad and green beans instead of fries) and an Irish coffee. It was SO yummy!

Today I went to the gym and did one hour of upper body and core work, then 30 minutes on the Treadclimber. I walked to work from BART for the extra steps.

I've been short on steps lately because BART changed its schedule and I've been catching an earlier train getting me home earlier, but robbing me of the steps I get pacing at the bus stop. I'm asking Lisa to come in 10 minutes later at 10:55 (instead of 10:45). I still won't get all the extra steps, but I'll get 10 more minutes of pay and (hopefully) still get home at the same time. I think I'll be doing a lot more walking to work from BART to make up for the steps I miss. :(

My computer should be here tomorrow. When I get home tonight and am digging out my old iMac from my desk and setting it aside.

MacBook ProMy computer did not arrive today. The photo on the right is Brad's computer - the one I will be getting. I checked the tracking and it's in Arizona with a new delivery date of January 5, which means I'll get it Monday. My iWork word processing software arrived, but the carrying case and the modem are due to arrive the same day as the computer.

I called the computer guy today and he said he would charge me $75 to take my old Mac apart and take out the hard drive, and $45 to transfer the hard drive info. onto the new machine. Hopefully Brad and I can drop off the machine the following Friday - my birthday.

The new computer will have:
* 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 1440 x 900 resolution
* 2GB memory
* 120GB hard drive1
* 8x double-layer SuperDrive
* NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with 128MB SDRAM

Today was payday so I put another $100 toward what I owe Bill Me Later for the computer. I owe just over $1000 now. My first goal - get what I owe under $1000.

Went to the gym today. Did the standard one hour of upper body weight training and then 30 minutes of cardio on the crossramp elliptical machine. The gym did seem a little busier than usual but not totally overrun with new year's resolutioners. I did see one overweight woman who I know was new. I wonder how long it will take before she disappears - most of the people who make resolutions do.

My lower body is still sore from Tuesday's workout, especially my butt. It seems most leg exercises end up targeting the butt in some way so that's why I'm always sore there after a lower body day.

It will probably rain tomorrow so that will hinder Brad and I walking. Not sure what we will do yet.

I've got to get this holiday weight gain off again! I feel so fat. :( And there is more temptation around work than ever - everyone is bringing in all the food that they were given for Christmas and don't want. Cookies are all over the building.

Brad got his laptop at work hooked up to an Internet connection and had Michael from IT downstairs configure it. I got caught up with all my photos and they are now uploaded on Flickr and in their correct sets and everything. I could have done all the labeling and everything on my work computer, but I need to learn the touchpad mouse so I did everything on Brad's computer. Check out my Flickr photos (photo link in the left hand column).

I also got my first video uploaded to YouTube. I won't embed it here for those with slow connections, so I'll just leave a link: Check me out! I hope to do more videos as time allows, plus I need to get my new computer set up and get the hard drive transferred.

My new computer should be here tomorrow, Friday at the latest with our tiny mail room here.

Happy New Year!

Yesterday was a cheat day, so no nutrition stats today. :)
Weight this morning: 145.6 (One week ago: 135)
Calories burned in exercise today: 356

Happy New Year!

I'm a bit hungover today from partying too hard last night. Yesterday was a planned cheat day for me. I also somehow gained 9 pounds in one day. I was 136.6 yesterday morning and 145.6 this morning. I didn't even eat 9 pounds of food. I know my body is seriously in fat-storing mode when I can gain 9 pounds in just 1 day.

Time to get serious. I am back on track today and plan to stay on track until my birthday, a week from this Friday.

Brad stayed overnight so he wouldn't have to worry about drinking and then driving, so he drove me to the gym this morning. I did lower body today - 1 hour. Then 15 minutes on the exercise bike and 15 on the elliptical - I'm still learning what different cardio exercises do to my heart rate with my heart rate monitor.

After my workout I rushed to the train station and drank my shake and had my high-GI carb on the train. I walked from the BART station to work for extra exercise.

Assessment: I'm a bit sore from yesterday. I'm never sore after an upper body day, but being away from the gym is why I guess. I was kinda slow today, but my sugar-free energy drink helped me get through the exercises. I did great on the walking squats - 3 sets up and back down the emergency exit ramp, resting at the top and bottom. If my balance were better I would try carrying hand weights, but it's not so I hold my hands just above the railings to keep from falling over.

Today the gym wasn't very busy, but we are about to be overrun with the annual crowd of new year's resolutioners. Most leave by the end of February; a few hang on through March before disappearing. I hate it and want my gym back for those of us who are in it for the long haul. But it's about to get crazy and I have to share the gym with them until they go away. At least today was pretty quiet and I didn't have much trouble getting the machines I wanted. Only the Captain's Chair had someone on it all the time.

I have another food to add to my "banned from my house" list. While I love Special K Protein Plus, I tend to overdo it when I eat it on weekends/cheat days. So when the current box is gone, that is it. Like nuts and nut butters, I can't control myself around it.

I recorded a short intro video on my camera today. I uploaded it to Brad's laptop and hope to upload it to YouTube when he can get online from work. I'll post a link here when it's up. And don't forget to subscribe to my channel so you will know when I post new videos. Also make me a friend since comments on my videos are limited to friends only, at least for right now.
